Plant once.

Harakeke is planted strategically in patterns which allow for ease of access for harvest.

Harvest.

The outside (grandparent) leaves are removed, allowing the next generation to thrive. This harvest and maintenance prevents disease and promotes growth.

Capture.

Harakeke sequesters carbon and absorbs nutrients, contributing to cleaner waterways and possible carbon credits.

Grow.

Seedling to maturity takes 36 months.

Harakeke grows outwards in a family structure: child, parent, grandparent.

The harvest process

Harvest

Leaves over two meters long are harvested from fans. Fans are harvested by only removing the outer six leaves, leaving the inner three to grow. Harvest is undertaken by growers with the help of contractors.
